traMOOC project kick-off

The official kick-off meeting of the open-education and open-software traMOOC project was held in Berlin on February 23rd at the Humboldt-Universitaet Zu Berlin. The kick-off was brilliant and the consortium partners provided a very positive impression and initial sharing of ideas about how the project should run in the next theree  years. At the meeting, the different partners reported initial assets and key lines of research. Definitive software and business ideas and other quality scores and scientific findings will be published in deliverables during the project life cycle by the end of the year, but for now we are pleased to say that traMOOC looks very promising and exciting.

The aim of the project is to develop high-quality systems for the automatic translation of various types of texts within MOOCs (e.g. blogs, presentations, subtitling of lectures) from English into German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Bulgarian, Greek, Polish, Czech, Croatian, Russian and Chinese. The grant has been awarded from the European Commission’s science subsidy fund Horizon2020, set up to promote research and innovation in Europe.
